This week is truly a special one for us. We are beyond honored to feature the incredible Rodney Howard—a devoted husband, father, sneakerhead, and a true embodiment of perseverance and strength.
Three years ago, Rodney faced an unimaginable challenge when a workplace accident changed his life forever. But instead of the loss of both arms define him, he rewrote the narrative, continuing to embrace his love for life, sneakers, and fashion with an unbreakable spirit. His content is not just about shoes—it’s about passion, resilience, and the power of pushing forward no matter what challenges you face in life.
Rodney’s appreciation for sneaker design runs deep, and his love for Jordans, Nikes, and NBs reflects his timeless style. We’re incredibly grateful for his support of Fresh Flow Shoe Trees, which have helped Rodney enjoy his passion for sneakers with ease.
Rodney, your journey inspires us daily, and we’re proud to have you as a friend of the brand. Thank you for being a part of the Flow!

How did you get into sneakers/shoes/fashion: like most of us, Michael Jordan was the beginning for me. I’ve been Fashion obsessed since I was a small child. I’ve just always had this weird appreciation for the art of shoe design. Even as a little kid I saw them in the way that others didn’t. The details, the way they were built, the quality. Everything about them stood out to me in a way that they didn’t to my friends. I found value in pairs that most people wouldn’t even look at twice.
Favorite shoe/sneaker of all time: That’s a tough one… I’m 46 years old. BS aside, it started with Jordan. My favorite silhouette is the Jordan 1. I really like collaborations as well. That being said Union Los Angeles Black toe is probably my favorite of all time, for now.
Favorite go-to pairs of shoes (shoes by the door): New Balance 574 without a doubt. Most comfortable pair I’ve ever worn. Us old guys need comfort!
What shoe best embodies you and your style? Honestly, probably a pair of GR SB’s. The biggest influence on me fashion wise growing up was always the skate scene and to this day it’s what I’m most comfortable in 90% of the time.
Describe your shoe care regimen: I wipe down every pair after each wear. With good maintenance you rarely have to do any cleaning.
Do you have any advice on overcoming huge obstacles/challenges in your life? Don’t get focused on the obstacles that are in front of you because that’s all they are, obstacles. Without struggle there’s no progression. Gift yourself the ability to see past what’s directly in front of you and keep pushing forward, striving to be the best version of yourself possible every single day. Choose yourself!
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in your recovery journey? I could write a book answering this question. More than 1. Choose kindness! We all have a purpose in life and everything happens for a reason. Don’t let setbacks derail you from your dreams. What I’ve learned about myself, nothing can stop me. Favorite quote today “what matters most is how well you walk through the fire”
Other passions/hobbies outside of shoes/sneakers/fashion: everything outdoors… horses, motorsports, camping, boating, wakeboarding. most of which I can no longer do but I still enjoy it. Working with nonprofits has become one of my favorite past times and has been a huge part of my healing journey.
Random fun/interesting fact about you: I can count to 10 in German and I can recite the Greek alphabet. I despise mint chocolate and the smell of BO. Also, aside from missing both my arms I only have one ear.
