Remove Creasing Using an Iron
- Push Fresh Flow Shoe Trees into the toe area.
- Using warm water, dampen a white washcloth or small cotton towel and carefully lay it over the creased area of the shoe.
- Make sure the towel is pulled neatly over the creased area so there are no towel ridges or edges over the creased shoe surface.
- Turn on an iron to the lowest setting, often seen as the ‘cotton’ setting. If there is a lower setting than ‘cotton’, start there.
- Using minimal pressure, press the warm iron on the damp cloth and begin slowly ironing over the creased portion of the shoe. Do not hold the hot iron in one place over 2-3 seconds at a time.
- After 45 seconds of ironing across the crease, lift the damp cloth to ensure the crease is beginning to flatten out.
- Re-dampen the towel or wash cloth as it dries.
- 8. WARNING: At any time, if you smell burning cotton/leather, see smoke, or notice the cloth color darken, remove the iron, and turn off the power. Also, constantly check the back of the damp cloth to ensure no color is leaching from the shoe. (Do not attempt this process on hand painted/customized shoes)
- As needed to remove creasing, turn up the heat of the iron without ever reaching the med-high/high setting.
- Continue gently ironing the damp towel over the creased area until you are satisfied with the results.
- 11. Keep the Fresh Flow Shoe Trees (or others) inside the shoe for 12-16 hours after the ironing process.
Remove Creasing Using a Hair Dryer
- Push Fresh Flow Shoe Trees into the toe area.
- Turn on the hair dryer to the low/medium heat setting
- Once warm, hold the warm end of the hair dryer 6-8 inches over the creased area of the shoe, moving it slowly across the creases.
- Using a warm, lightly damp towel/cloth, rub the warmed, creased leather against the Fresh Flow Shoe Trees inside the shoe.
- Repeat the warming and rubbing process with the hair dryer or towel until you are satisfied with the results.
- Keep the Fresh Flow Shoe Trees (or others) inside the shoe for 12-16 hours after the ironing process.
